In the mid 2000’s, Jo was obsessed with a blog called the Missing Toof. Some of you may have shared her obsession. The blog followed the electronic dance, indie rock, post-punk, and “backpack” hip-hop scene (MF DOOM, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, and Lupe Fiasco). Mike Sherrill and Aaron Fooshee, the blog’s creators, documented the scene, announced gigs, curated music, and profiled artists. The website featured downloadable MP3 files of exclusive DJ mashups and remixes. Readers also got to stream new music.
The blog no longer exists. I’m not sure what year the blog closed up shop but the music lives on in a playlist on Remedial Hip-Hop’s Spotify account whenever you need a bit of nostalgia. This playlist is also available on YouTube with lots of extras! Jo found some obscure remixes and mashups that aren’t available on music streaming for obvious reasons.
Check them out!
Peace
